Some very cool films in this selection. Lots of animation, some animated documentary, some unexplainable avantgarde. O the whole, very very good start. The genius was to program lots of short films for 2-5 mins, so that the many guests who not get bored. My favourite was Clear Glasses, which was a superb animated documentary about the glasses worn by the Weather underground man. I also liked I Am So Proud Of You, Oh Great (which played with i at the 2007 Edinburgh Film Fest and it was great to see it again) Cattle Call. The Control Master byRun Wrake was another outstanding film by this very imaginative British animator using the cut up technqiue with old evocative images. PR was quite disturbing in it's critique of the American right, Team Taliban was interesting bt didn't dig deep enough and Steel Homes was too distanty, too BBC, to obviously striving towards an aesthetic look as to be very far from the characters she was detailing. But on the whole, very good start.
